Flowering
Dogwoods
Garland
Strother
In
the live oak hills north of town
dogwood trees blossom in rhythm,
filling
the woods with red, pink,
and pearl white in a nest of green.
Appearing
without advance notice,
they catch us by surprise each year,
composing
their own southern
spring in rampant fugues of color.
